Part of our renewable inquiry we looked at ways we can reuse items. Some of our families have knitters and often have left over wool. We made our own looms and began the process of "under, over, under, over" to make a small coaster sized piece of weaving. The finished pieces are displayed on our wall so please come and take a look.

Writing Idol
Today was a tough job to decide who was the winner of writing idol today - lucky I had Miss Bishop to make the final decision!
Joint winners Ahlants and Brittany.
Everyone was screaming and cheering so loudly I felt my ears were going to explode. Even worse my phone ran out of battery percentage so I couldn't record this amazing blasting spaceship.
Ahlants
As I rose up into the vast blue clear sky I felt heat rising from the bottom of the spaceship which freaked me out. Troubled by fear I screamed so loud that the people hundreds of meters away could hear me.

Writing Idol
Today's Writing Idol is Ashton!
Here is his work.
As the metallic space shuttle prepared for imminent take off, others were intrigued by the heat, it felt like they were standing on the burning sun. When people lost sight of it they saluted it.

Farewell
Today was the last day for our teacher aide - Maureen. Maureen has worked at Netherby School for 9 years. She and her husband now head off to manage the camping ground site at Mount Sommers. We wish them all the very best and will miss her smile and guidance in our class.
We asked the class what they thought we should do for Maureen's last day and they said art as that is a passion of hers. So she sat like a queen and we drew her portrait.

Virtual Reality
Wow - we got to visit Scott Base in Antarctica!!!!
Well we got to check it out via virtual reality. Students had the opportunity to put on the headset to explore Antarctica. It was absolutely amazing. There were many items in the hut that were interactive and we could watch movies, check out photos and even turn on a blender.
Many teachers, teacher aides and our school cleaner had a turn - it was that cool.

Buddy Reading
On a Friday we meet with Room 4, Karearea, for buddy reading. We have set buddies and get to think about the type of books they like to read. For this session our buddies selected books from their class library. Soon we will hear them read to us from their class readers too.

EPro8
Heaps of fun working with huge EPro8 kits today. These kits are like large meccano or lego equipment. In groups we worked out how to make a model stable (make a triangle), extend pole length, use a gear crank and how to use a pulley.
Tomorrow we will be working in teams to show our cooperation, management and thinking skills in a challenge task. After that 4 students will be selected to go to the competition at Ashburton Intermediate School.
